What specification of fuels and lubricants are required for a engine?
Recommended fluids vary depending on the engine type, environment and application. For additional information, review your operation and maintenance manual or contact your local Boleo dealer for additional assistance.
What is EPA Tier 4?
All US regulated emission standards, including Tier 4, are extensions of the “Clean Air Act” (1963) which was enacted to reduce air pollution. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which is the Federal organization responsible for managing and regulating the Clean Air Act, put forth a multi-year plan in the mid 1990’s with “tiered” mandates to reduce the level of harmful emissions such as particulate matter (PM) and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) that enter the air via diesel engine exhaust. The “final” and most technologically challenging implementation stage, whereby engine and Agricultural/Construction equipment manufacturers are required to produce products that comply with these most stringent emission reductions, is called “Tier 4”. The Tier 4 emission standard will reduce already reduced emissions of PM by 90%. To give you a sense for how stringent the Tier 4 standard is, consider the fact that in many parts of the United States, the air leaving Tier 4 compliant machines will actually be cleaner than the incoming air!
Tier 4 Emissions

The EPA Tier 4 specification was first applied to industries with large on-road vehicles (such as Semi Trailers and other diesel powered Trucks) and followed shortly thereafter by large off-road equipment categories (such as Agricultural and Construction Equipment). In each case, vehicles or equipment with diesel engines greater than 75 horsepower (hp) were required to comply by specified dates. In the Agricultural/Construction equipment industry, most of the commercially available diesel powered products are in the 25 to 74 hp range and the Tier 4 mandate requires compliance for any products produced in this horsepower/performance category.

Tier 4 refers to a specifically defined level of federally mandated air-quality emissions standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that apply to new diesel engines used in off-road equipment. Essentially, the Tier 4 standard requires engine manufacturers to reduce the levels of particulate matter and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) to a level that is 50-96 percent lower than existing diesel engines. Any company that integrates engines into other off-road equipment solutions (e.g. large area rotary and reel mowers) must also integrate new Tier 4 compliant engine technologies into their products.

Why EPA Tier 4 engines?
U.S. EPA Tier 4 is the latest stage of engine emissions legislation designed to reduce pollution from off-highways machines, affecting U.S. territories and Canada territories only.
What is Stage V?

Stage V is the sixth in a series of legislative stages which began in 1996, to reduce the following pollutants:

  • NOx: Nitrogen Oxides
  • PM: Particulate Matter
  • CO: Carbon Monoxide
  • HC: Hydrocarbons
  • The key changes for Stage V are reductions in particulate mass by approximately 40% and the introduction of particulate count.
Why Stage V engines?
EU Stage V is the latest stage of engine emissions legislation designed to reduce pollution from off-highways machines, affecting European territories only. In order to meet these guidelines, Auto-stop and DPF has been introduced across all applicable models.

Yes, Boleo’s hydraulic breaker hammers are designed to fit on our compact excavators machine ranges. However, it’s important to note that Boleo hydraulic breaker hammers for excavators should only be paired with a Boleo excavator that has sufficient hydraulic flow capacity. Correctly combining a Boleo excavator hydraulic breaker hammer with one of our compact excavators depends on whether you’re looking for a breaker from our contractor or professional ranges.
What is a Breaker Hammer used for?
A hydraulic breaker is a mechanical device use to demolish hard surfaces such as concrete, asphalt, or stone. As a result, hydraulic breakers are commonly used for demolition or breaking work as they reduce the physical effort required from workers and can increase productivity. The demolition or breaking jobs hydraulic breakers can be used for include demolishing concrete, asphalt, or rock in mining or road construction.
How does a hydraulic Breaker Hammer work?
How a hydraulic breaker works is by applying hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic cylinder. This causes the piston to move back and forth, creating a powerful impact force that is transmitted to the chisel, causing it to strike the material. These repeated strikes then fracture the material into smaller pieces, ready for dismantling. As a result, hydraulic breakers are commonly used for demolition projects, as well as in construction and mining.
How do you maintain Boleo hydraulic Breaker Hammers?

Due to the nature of the work carried out with a hydraulic breaker, wear and tear is guaranteed. However, this doesn’t mean your Boleo hydraulic breaker can’t be properly maintained to ensure it works effectively for a long time. It just means you should undertake a full inspection of your hydraulic breaker every time you use it to identify any potential issues. These can include wear and tear and loose fittings. It’s also important to ensure you’re operating it correctly. For example, by monitoring your machine’s hoses, greasing it correctly with the correct grease, and breaking at 90 degrees to the surface.

For more detail on how to correctly operate a Boleo hydraulic breaker, please read the operating manual.
